In life, we come across several occasions, each with a different reason to celebrate. Be it a birthday, anniversary, wedding or a formal celebration, it all comes down to organizing a party. If you are in charge of planning any such party, here are a few mistakes to avoid.
Last minute planning
Nothing screams ‘IRRESPONSIBLE’ like a half-decorated venue filled with workers, when the guests arrive at the venue. If you wish to avoid such as situation, then it is important to plan ahead of time and decide on how much time you will need to set up the event. Leave a gap of at least 2 hours in case of an emergency or an unexpected obstacle that may come your way. Create a to-do list and ensure that all the tasks are accomplished at the fixed time.
No set budget
Before you create a plan and theme for the party, you must decide on how much you are willing to spend on this event. If you are not organizing it on your own, then hire an events company that could do the plan the entire party for you. However, this would increase the costs. So, if you are looking to save money on this, you would have to do most of the planning on your own. Remember to take into account, the venue, food, drinks, cake, décor, costumes and entertainment when calculating the costs.
Lack of supplies
The worst nightmare of a host would be a lack of food and drinks at their party. This could create a terrible impression on the guests too. Therefore, remember to check the guest list and order extra food and drinks in case of an emergency. You must also ensure there are enough ‘loot bags’ of ‘thank you’ gifts in case you are planning on distributing them at the party.
Failing to check with the vendors
At least a day before the party you must reconfirm your order with all of the vendors which include the caterer, cake decorator, florist and décor supplier in order to avoid disappointment at the last minute. In addition, you must check if there are any other parties or corporate events Singapore that are being held at the venue on the day of your party, so that you can prepare for it accordingly.
Planning a party is not as difficult as it may sound. With a little bit of effort and help from others and a great deal of advanced planning, you are good to go. But keep these tips in mind to avoid any unpleasant surprises at your next party.
